Benefits

Our Department offers an excellent benefit package including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.

Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

Grants Analyst/State Trails Coordinator (Outdoor Grants)

Location: Outdoor Recreation Grants Program, Little Rock, AR

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a self motivated individual who will help manage grant funds used to purchase land, develop parks and construct outdoor recreation facilities. Duties include traveling in-state to work with mayors, county judges and community leaders that apply for and receive grant funds. The successful candidate must have the skills and confidence to speak in public, conduct grant application and project management workshops, explain complex grant program rules and regulations, state purchasing procurement procedures and conduct barrier-free assessments.  This person will represent the Department as State Trails Coordinator serving as Executive Secretary of the Arkansas Trails Council, developing and distrubuting information about Arkansas’s hiking, biking, off-road vehicle and other recreation trails. The Trails Coordinator also works with other government agencies, organizations and interest groups on trail related issues. In-state travel with occasional overnight stays will be necessary, and a driver’s record check will be performed.  The successful candidate must have a basic understanding of construction practices and be able to traverse undeveloped natural terrain. Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite required, while Pagemaker, Adobe Acrobat, FileMaker Pro would be helpful.

This position is responsible for the payment of vendor invoices related to maintenance & operation for over 50 park locations statewide. Duties include verifying invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and reviewing the Purchasing Card Program transactions for compliance with purchasing & accounting procedures. This position is also responsible for accurately entering utility bill data daily into a database. Computer skills in Microsoft Office and familiarity with the AASIS system are preferred.

Restaurant Manager (Ozark Folk Center)

This position manages a full-service 150-seat restaurant, supervises food preparation to ensure Serv-Safe guidelines and health regulations are met, and provides daily supervision to food service personnel. Job duties include creating recipes, planning and designing menus, maintaining food inventory ledgers, monitoring food costs and preparing budgets. This position is also responsible for coordinating and catering to parties for special events and other occasions. The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for all training, supervising and scheduling of restaurant staff, completing daily and monthly reports, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Applicant must be able to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, and must possess a valid driver’s license. A criminal background check is required.

This position is responsible for the accounting control and disbursement of the annual construction and major maintenance budget. This position is also responsible for reconciling various subsidiary ledgers and worksheets to control accounts, reconciliation of methods of finance (MOF) on a monthly basis, auditing fund source commitment balances and requesting transfer of funds as required, identifying and taking action on aged expensed transactions, closing out completed construction projects records, performing other auditing and reconciling tasks as directed by supervisor, using AASIS as it pertains to budgeting, purchase orders and contracts, preparation of year-end schedules for CAFR, recording all buildings, land, and infrastructures for the agency, and the performance of the duties of the Accounting Coordinator of Fixed Assets in the absence of the supervisor. A criminal background check is required.

Park Superintendent IV (Historic Washington)

This position is responsible for the overall operation, administration, and management of the park. Supervises a large staff of professional, technical, administrative, and service employees. Duties include budgeting, supervising and evaluating personnel, implementing and insuring compliance with all department directives, policies, and procedures, and supervising the operation of revenue generating facilities. Responsible for maintaining the infrastructure as it relates to the historical structures and artifacts that make up the unique heritage of Historic Washington. Works with the Parks Planning and Development section in putting together a priority of renovation and restoration of the historical structures will be a significant part of the job. Maintains a good working relationship with Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation, the private township of Old Washington, Arkansas, and performs all other public relations aspects of the park, such as making presentations to civic groups, hosting tours of the park, and working with Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives or other state and local agencies/institutions. Generating visitation through the public schools, special events, and “walk in” visitation will be paramount in the administration of this position. A criminal background check is required.
