Benefits

Our Department offers an excellent benefit package including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.

Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

Maintenance Specialist

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of park facilities grounds, and equipment. Job duties include performing both skilled and non-skilled tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, basic HVAC, janitorial, grounds keeping, trash removal, vehicle and equipment maintenance, inventory and maintenance record keeping and other duties as assigned. This position also supervises and trains seasonal employees in park maintenance projects. Must be able to work ininclement weather, traverse rough terrain, lift up to 50 lbs., and work avaried schedule, including weekends and holidays. A valid driver’s license is required, and a driver’s record check will be performed.

Fiscal Support Technician

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position is stationed at DeGray Lake Resort State Park’s golf course. Job duties include greeting customers and handling minor complaints, selling merchandise, operating a cash register and making cash transactions. Applicant will be responsible for light bookkeeping, some house cleaning tasks, assisting with golf tournaments, training seasonal employees, assisting in ordering and inventorying merchandise, as well as other duties as assigned. Applicants must be able to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of golf.  A criminal background check is required.

ADPT Office Manager II

This position performs administrative support duties, including drafting e-mails,receptionist duties, assisting with inventories, answering phone calls, and light cleaning. Applicant will be responsible for auditing invoices, supervising the posting and reconciling of daily cash receipts, preparing cash reports and bank deposits, preparing monthly statement of accounts, and compiling information for various reports. Other job duties include posting transactions to park ledgers and balancing entries, assisting in budget preparation, issuing purchase orders, and time keeping duties. This position also supervises one full-time and one part-time employee, completes personnel and payroll documents, and maintains files, time sheets, and leave records.  Frequent contact with public and staff is required, and knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary. Engineer, P.E.

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position will serve in a support role for the Engineering and Architecturalunits of the Planning and Development section of Arkansas State Parks. Duties include project design, permit applications, drafting and reviewing documents such as plans and specifications, contracts, pay estimates, change orders, correspondence, field reports, weekly progress reports, weekly travel schedule, providing planning assistance, and routing, copying and distributing plans and documents. Applicant will provide assistance in researching information for special projects and reports, maintaining equipment, has the ability to work well in a team environment, and will provide technical assistance to the field staff as required. Other responsibilities include overall project management, keeping supervisors and team members informed of project progress, following standard procedures, meeting project deadlines and other duties asassigned. In state travel is required, and computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel, are a must. AutoCad skills preferred.

Travel Consultant

Maintenance Technician

This position plans, maintains, and operates the park’s animal program.  Duties include maintaining, caring for, and keeping records on the park’s animals.  Must have knowledge of domesticated farm animals, such as cows, horses, mules, goats, and chickens.  Other job duties include driving the park’s surrey, presenting interpretive programming for park visitors related to the animal program and 19th century life, formulating and implementing a pasture maintenance program, building and maintaining period appropriate fencing and structures, maintaining tack, and other duties as assigned.  Applicant must also be competent as a driver of wagons, carriages, surreys, and horse-drawn farm implements.  Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to traverse rough terrain on foot.  Will check driver’s record.  This position works some weekends, holidays and often has a flexible schedule.

This Lodge Cook works as a kitchen leader assisting in training and directing seasonal employees.  In addition, this Lodge Cook prepares orders from a menu for individuals and groups, prepares buffets, and assists with ordering supplies. Maintenance Assistant

Food Preparation Supervisor

This position provides daily supervision to food service workers. Assists in the preparation of food orders and oversees temperature controls, portion controls, presentation, and food rotation. The Tourism Division of the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism is seeking an experienced and creative Communications Manager.  The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, editing, and communications skills; have experience dealing with travel journalists, photographers, editors, and publishers; display a clear familiarity with Internet marketing, to include coordination of improvements to our website; an understanding of website file structures; a basic understanding of data bases as applied to the Internet; a working knowledge of HTML coding, understand the importance of establishing close ties with media contacts; demonstrate an ability to direct ad agency work on media events; be able to effectively represent the Department at various functions; and exhibit an outgoing personality eager to work with others.  This position supervises a staff of seven, including travel writers, photographers and clerical support.  Other duties include planning and assigning work, evaluating job performances, monitoring section’s budget, and preparing and delivering speeches and presentations.   Must have advanced experience in social networking practices.  Some travel can be expected, mostly in-state.
