Benefits

Our Department offers an excellent benefit package including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.

Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

This position is responsible for landscaping and grounds maintenance activities at the Village Creek Golf Course. The Landscape Specialist performs grounds keeping activities, such as pruning, mixing chemicals, applying fertilizers and pesticides, mulching, weeding, planting trees and shrubs, and performing pest control. Other job duties include monitoring inventories, operating a variety of grounds keeping equipment, maintaining the irrigation system and monitoring for malfunctions, and other duties as assigned. Familiarity with mowers and grounds keeping equipment is required.  Applicant must be able to work a varied shift, including weekends and holidays, and be able to work in all kinds of weather. Skilled Tradesman / Carpenter (Petit Jean)

Summary of Duties & Minimum Qualifications:

This position is responsible for making all wooden routed and plastic routed signs for 52 state parks.  Primary responsibilities include designing, routing, and painting wooden signs, cutting and etching plastic signs, maintaining supplies and equipment, keeping accurate records, preparing project analysis and supply requests, and maintaining cleanliness of the sign shop.  Other duties include assisting with general maintenance when needed and as time allows. Must possess basic carpentry skills, painting and woodworking experience, knowledge of woodworking tools, and wood types.  Must have excellent skills in grammar and spelling as well as good communications skills. Must be able to work the occasional weekend and/or holiday.

This position is responsible for an extensive collection related to the natural resources of Arkansas, specifically oil and brine. The curator manages the permanent collection as it relates to acquisitions, special exhibitions, research, conservation, and preservation. Tourism Development Manager/ADPT Development Manager

The Tourism Development Manager is responsible for the development and expansion of tourism within the state of Arkansas. Job duties include establishing contacts and rapport with hospitality-related businesses across the country and with local, state, and federal agencies involved in the tourism industry, identifying possible funding sources for tourism projects, administering a tourism grant, and doing public relations work, such as consulting with communities and organizations, presenting programs at civic clubs as requested, and representing the department at meetings and conferences. This position monitors the section’s budget, supervises a small support staff, oversees the design and printing of the twice annual Calendar of Events, and works with state tourism businesses and non-profits to ensure all public events are promoted on Arkansas.com and printed in vacation planning kit materials.
