Civil War Family Day: Exploring the Little Rock of 1863

The Old State House Museum takes visitors 150 years into the past with a Civil War living history event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 30 costumed interpreters portray military and civilian life in Little Rock after the retreat of the Confederate Army in the fall of 1863. Visitors see what life was like for soldiers garrisoned in the city and citizens dealing with the occupation while work was done to establish a new government. The Old State House Museum was the command headquarters of the Federal military during this time. Firing demonstrations, programs on military justice, period games for young visitors and examples of everyday life in Little Rock during the Civil War will be available throughout the event.
