Mississippi River State Park is all about citizen science and the Great Backyard Bird count is an ideal project for individuals unsure of getting involved in citizen science. All across the country participants will be counting all the birds they see in order to obtain a real time snap shot of where wild birds are distributed across the continent. You can help too, by participating in one of Mississippi River State Park’s bird walks this weekend. All skill levels and birding abilities are welcome. A park interpreter will be there to help you with identification and instructions on how the count is conducted.
