Have you ever wondered what your great grandparents used to treat malaria? Did you wonder what they took to treat upset stomachs or pink eye? Do you have an interest in the knowledge about medicinal uses of plants passed down for centuries from mouth to ear without ever being written down? If so then we will have a workshop that should answer some of those questions, especially about the plants that occur in and around Logoly State Park in south Arkansas. There will be a guided tour on the park's hiking trails with one of the interpreters at the state park. We will focus on plant uses, names (common and scientific), and identifying characteristics of each plant. There will be a 3-hour hike so sturdy shoes are recommended. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Fee covers the cost of a book and the handouts. Pre-registration is required.
