Paul Taylor Dance Company

The Paul Taylor Dance Company, formed in 1954, was one of the early touring companies of American modern dance. The Company has performed in more than 500 cities in 62 countries and still spends more than half of each performance season touring in American cities. The inspiration behind the company, and still one of its major choreographers, Paul Taylor was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors, received an Emmy Award for Speaking in Tongues, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Clinton in 1993. Awards for lifetime achievement include a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship – often called the “genius award” – and the Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award.
