Event Details:

9:30 a.m.-noon. Mushrooms: If you love edible landscapes but can't find a food crop that takes shade, then you will love growing Shiitake mushrooms (Lentinula edodes). Master Gardener and long time mushroom grower, Ruth Siebels will describe and demonstrate everything you need to know to produce this delicious health food which will provide you with mushrooms up to eight years--a true "perennial!" Wabi Sabi and Beyond: Most Americans love Japanese gardens, but don’t understand the basic philosophies and principles of design that make good examples so inspiring. This makes it very difficult to recreate that special sense of tranquility and belonging which is their trademark. Learn about Japanese ideas like wabi sabi, principles of natural design, and intimate scale and how to apply them to make more successful adaptations of this ancient design tradition. Pre-registration is required.
Free to members, regular admission for non-members.
