Each year around the last weekend in June, right about peak butterfly season, Queen Wilhelmina State Park holds a butterfly count. We spend the day counting all the butterflies we can find.
We invite beginners and experts alike to join us for the annual butterfly count. Those who know butterflies can help identify the ones we find. Those who don't know butterflies can help by spotting butterflies for others to identify. Your participation can make a difference.
Butterfly enthusiast Bruce Ewing will set up his display of caterpillars at the Wonder House. The results of the count are published in “Butterfly World,” which is a journal enjoyed by butterfly lovers around the globe.
We look forward to seeing you at the count. Contact the park for more details at (479) 394-2863.
