Sample Itineraries

You provide the choice of wheels(motorcycle or bicycle) and we'll provide the fun!  You'll begin your adventure at the Helena River Park in historic Helena.  Mark Twain once described Helena as "one of the prettiest situations on the Mississippi River."  Your first stop will be the Greater First Baptist Church.  Here you'll enjoy a stirring performance of traditional gospel music.  The award-winning choir will serenade you with gospel music like you'll only hear in the Arkansas Delta!  After the performance, you'll get on your wheels and start rollin'!  We'll head west to the Delta Heritage Trail, which will take us one-mile on prepared gravel surface to Lexa, Arkansas.  At this point, we'll meet the Mississippi River Trail bike route.  The trail will lead us into the small town of Marianna, where we'll have lunch at a local restaurant. 

 

With your satisfied stomach, you'll have your choice of climbing into the Delta Heritage Tour van or continuing to ROLL!  You'll pass large cotton, corn, soybean, and rice farms, and our leisurely pace will also allow a stop in the fields to view the crops firsthand.  Our next stop will be Horseshoe Lake, where the owner of Delta Heritage Tours will host you at an authentic Post and Beam Home and Guest House.  You'll enjoy fresh catfish and hushpuppies for dinner.

 

 

The next morning, you'll awaken refreshed to coffee and juice, board those bikes again, and roll around the lake to the unique home of the "Bicycle Man" (a well-kept secret)!  A full southern breakfast awaits you at the Best Country Store.

 

We'll then continue to follow the Mississippi River Trail on paved back roads to the Mississippi River Bridge at West Memphis, Arkansas, or back to Helena depending on your preference.  Regardless of your next destination, all logistics will be handled for you.  As your journey draws to a close, you will have experienced up-close and personal the true sights, sounds and tastes of life along the Mississippi River.
