The Mission of the Department of Parks and Tourism is:
- to provide optimum quality state park recreation facilities conveniently located and in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of all state citizens and visitors;
- to provide adequate facilities and skilled leadership for developing and safeguarding natural resources;

Benefits
Our Department offers an excellent benefit package
including immediate accrual of annual and sick leave, eleven paid holidays, and a contributory retirement plan. Our Department pays the major portion of medical health
insurance for full-time employees and offers several medical plans from which to choose. These plans range from an indemnity plan with a PPO option to HMO's.
Other benefits include maternity leave, court and jury
duty leave, military leave and a catastrophic illness leave program as well as Family and Medical leave. Employees with our Department may choose to participate in a deferred
compensation plan and various options for life insurance, accident insurance, cancer care and intensive care insurance. Employees are also able to participate in the Arkansas Cafeteria Plan which is a program designed to allow an employee to pay for group health and life insurance premiums, dependent day care and out-of-pocket medical care costs tax free. All employees of our Department are also covered under workers' compensation and unemployment insurance.

This position will assist with supervising the operations of a 60-room lodge with 13 cabins, a 125-seat restaurant and convention center complex. Job duties include daily supervision of a medium-sized service/maintenance staff by interviewing applicants, making hire or termination decisions, assigning work, training staff and evaluating staff performance. This position also supervises the coordination of facility activities, maintains facility records and prepares reports on business activities, revenue projections, cost control and inventory control. Other job duties include providing information to the general public, arranging major maintenance and repairs for the facility and other duties as assigned. Applicant must be able to work a varied schedule and will primarily cover evenings, weekends and holidays. A criminal background check and a driving record check are required.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: the formal education equivalent of a high school diploma plus three years of experience in hotel/motel management; or, the formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in general business, hotel/motel management, hospitality or a related field. This position supervises food preparation to ensure Serv-Safe guidelines and Department of Health regulations. Duties include creating recipes for food preparation, planning and designing menus, coordinating and catering to groups of 10 to 250 guests, purchasing food, supplies and equipment for a 72 seat restaurant and 250 seat banquet facilities, supervising a staff of 6 to 12 employees, and other duties as assigned. Applicant will also handle monetary transactions and enter data in the Maestro system. A criminal background check is required.
