The section currently has a co-operative project with KARN radio to help communities get free publicity for their special events and activities. These brief radio interviews are booked for a year at a time and are aired each Friday morning. Dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you get your reserved time, you’ll receive a reminder e-mail from us with instructions. To book your interview time, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 501-682-7602.
Through its various job duties, members of the section publicize various attractions and events taking place. The department’s online media room, also serves as a tourism industry media information center, posting news and feature releases from the private sector under “From the Industry.” If you’d like your article or release posted, please contact the writer who represents your area.
The Communications Section’s press releases and feature stories are distributed to more than 900 media outlets both in-state and out-of-state. These include national and regional TV and radio stations, magazines, major metropolitan daily newspapers, selected electronic media and all Arkansas media outlets. These releases have inspired stories and in many cases have been printed in publications such as The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlanta Constitution, The New York Times, Dallas Morning News, Leisure Group Travel, Southern Living, Huffington Post, Midwest Living and Garden and Gun – to name a few.
