Arkansas Department of Rural Services

Department of Rural Services and AEDC partner to fund community centers, fire stations, and fire equipment for communities with a population of 3,000 or less. At least 51% of persons benefiting must be low-income.

Other grants include County Fair Building Grant, Community Enhancement and Rural Community Development.

Arkansas Economic Development Commission

Grants Division

Arkansas Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) program provides grants to small local governments for projects that reduce fossil fuel emissions, increase energy efficiency and conservation and deploy market-ready renewable energy technologies.  Small cities and counties will be able to apply for these competitive grants in February.  More information: www.arkansasenergy.org.

Arkansas Historic Preservation Program

Department of Arkansas Heritage

The AHPP's County Courthouse Restoration Subgrants is been used to help restore historic county courthouses. Participating counties donate facade easements on their historic county courthouses in return for financial assistance in rehabilitating the buildings. Grant funds come primarily from the Real Estate Transfer Tax, administered by the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council. Total amounts available to be shared among applicants annually have ranged from $150,000 to $1,000,000.

Perhaps the best known and most popular of the AHPP's programs, the National Register of Historic Places is the country's official list of historically significant sites worthy of preservation.Two Historic Preservation Restoration Grant options are available for rehabilitation of historic structures.
