Lake Sylvia is a picturesque 18-acre lake located in the Ouachita National Forest and the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, just 38 miles west of Little Rock. It is well known for its swimming and picnicking opportunities close to the Capital City. Facilities include 19 campsites with electricity, eight tent-only sites, 36 picnic sites and two group campgrounds. A swimming area with beach and diving platform and trails which include a wildlife interpretive trail and tree identification interpretive trail for the physically challenged provide recreational opportunities. An amphitheatre which hosts outdoor programs in season and play areas are also available. These facilities are available on a first-come, first-serve basis from mid-spring to early-fall.

Fishing: Anglers report that channel catfish are the best catches here. Located nine miles south of Perryville on Ark. 9, then west on Ark. 324 for four miles. Phone the Winona Ranger District of the Ouachita National Forest for more information: (501) 889-5176.
