Marker honoring the old Plantation Inn where many blues musicians got their start: Calvin Newborn, Willie Mitchell, Floyd Newman and Isaac Hayes. At the time it opened in 1943, the Plantation Inn had the largest dance floor in the South. The club also served as a hub for after-hours jam sessions with performers from Memphis hotels and Beale Street.
