Small community located approximately six miles southeast of Lincoln; Cane Hill College was the home of the state's first institute of higher education, the first library and the first Sunday School. The college relocated to Clarksville and is now the University of the Ozarks. Several buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places; Battle of Cane Hill is where the first shots of the Prairie Grove Campaign took place on Nov. 28, 1862
