About Tyronza

Tyronza is one of the oldest cities within Poinsett County and its origins date back to the late 19th century. In the 1930s, it was the site where the Southern Tenant Farmers Movement began, which launched a national outcry against the abusive discrimination of wealthy land owners against sharecroppers who were mostly African-American farmers. A museum affiliated with Arkansas State University now highlights the history of the movement and the region.
