How to Be a Part of More Fun Per Gallon Campaign
Are you looking to encourage people to visit your establishment this summer? Here’s a great way to drive people to your town.
The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism has launched a partnership campaign aimed at reminding visitors that Arkansas is a friendly, exciting and affordable vacation destination. The three-pronged “More Fun Per Gallon” program utilizes the recently redesigned Deals and Coupons website and application and a Gas Tracker to show drivers how much they can expect to spend on their trip.
Deals and Coupons are already utilized by many in the industry. Tiffany Bertram with Tiffany’s Bed & Breakfast in Bismarck has found the program very helpful. “Any FREE listing is worth using, in my opinion,” she says. “I think the state does such a great job promoting tourism in Arkansas, that I try take advantage of all they're offering!”
Catch that? Participation in Deals and Coupons is free to any Arkansas lodging, attraction or dining establishment. It’s a simple process. If you’re already in the ALD (Attractions, Lodging and Dining database) listings on Arkansas.com, you’re a step closer to being ready to post your package. If not, head to this page on the Arkansas Industry Insider homepage and fill out the information that visitors are searching for, important data that will appear on Arkansas.com under your community and lodging type.
As part of our “More Fun Per Gallon” promotion, we’re encouraging industry members to team up and enjoy the benefits of packaging. We expect to see lodging operations collaborate with local attractions and restaurants and offer one-stop shopping to travelers, bundling an overnight stay with a good meal and something to do. Additionally, these partners might offer an added bonus to guests, such as the inclusion of a local product or premium.
Don’t get us wrong – we’re not suggesting you slash prices during the busiest time of the year. Rather, we’re hoping you will cross-promote with other tourism entities in your area and create unique and interesting packages that will encourage visitors to play and stay. It will be up to the lodging establishment to serve as the clearinghouse for this project; the operator will negotiate for admission to attraction, food credits and such.
Once you have created your package, utilize your Partners Log-In for the ALD and enter the details of the package being offered. It’s that simple, and your bundled offer will appear quickly on the website thousands visit when they’re looking for information about Arkansas deals.
The Deals and Coupons program is special and unique; unlike large marketing and couponing sites such as Groupon and LivingSocial, Deals and Coupons does not require an initial investment. It’s absolutely free. If you already have a packaging plan, you can simply add it to our website.
The “More Fun Per Gallon” promotion can also help you with your advertising. The ad campaign primarily includes radio, supported by in-state TV messaging through a partnership with the Television Broadcasters of Arkansas. Once you get your package together, you can utilize this opportunity to purchase :30 radio spots at a discount. These spots will run on the back end of another :30 second spot promoting the campaign, on the same music bed – and those ads can be placed within Arkansas or in one of our feeder markets such as Jackson, Mississippi or Springfield, Missouri. What does that mean? Well, if you’re looking to share what your business has to offer with radio listeners in another part of the state, you can contact a radio station in that region and have your message added to the end of our special summertime spots. These radio ads will run from now through the end of July.
Still hesitant about how to create a package? Need some ideas? The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism travel writers will be offering a special series this summer called “One Tank Travels.” Every weekday from now through August, one of our writers will share a proposed itinerary to somewhere you can reach in Arkansas on a single tank of gas – which happens to be just about anywhere in Arkansas. These stories presented on VisitMyArkansas.com will include combinations of sights to see, attractions to visit and dining options that can be enjoyed on a single trip. Some will focus on single communities; others will explore the vast wealth of destinations to savor along Arkansas highways, byways and trails. The travel writers will pair up with media throughout the state – with radio and television stations, newspapers, magazines and websites – to share these travels. You may use the stories as a suggestion – or you can work with your area travel writer to create a package that works for your establishment.
The program launched on Monday, May 14. Join “More Fun Per Gallon” and bring visitors to your front door!
