Greetings Industry Insiders,

One of our best assets is our fall color. Thanks to the late summer rain we’re now seeing red, yellow and orange leaves in areas of northern and central Arkansas.  How’s the fall color in your area? If you have foliage worth boasting about, we encourage you to snap some pictures and share them through your website and social media.

Another asset we’ve been bragging about lately is the Arkansas Delta. Communications Manager Kat Robinson just returned from a travel writer tour there, and from what we hear, our visitors were quite impressed with the experience.

And, if you’ve got an individual, community or organization worth bragging about in the tourism industry, consider nominating them for a Henry Award. Details on how to make a nomination are below – and the deadline is RIGHT NOW. We welcome your input.

Journalists Discover the Delta, Pledge Return

The first week of October, 20 journalists representing media outlets from all over the United States and Canada came to eastern Arkansas for a week long tour of the Arkansas Delta with team members from Geiger and Associates. These writers and reporters were given a personalized tour that took them from Lake Village to Dumas, Helena-West Helena to Forrest City, Jonesboro to Blytheville to West Memphis.  Along the way, the writers learned not only about the attractions along Crowley’s Ridge Parkway and the Great River Road. They also experienced the beauty of the Delta at harvest time.  They were thrilled by the musical possibilities connected with the King Biscuit Blues Festival and with our state’s ties to Johnny Cash.  And everyone of them asked about returning to Arkansas.

The tour has already generated some coverage and more is expected over the next several months. We have already received word that the Canadian RV magazine SCOPE will heavily feature the Arkansas Delta in its February issue.
