U.S. Marshals Museum to Receive $1 Million from the State

Officials say the planned U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith will receive about $1 million from the state sometime after the start of the new fiscal year this summer.

The appropriation for the new museum was included in legislation signed earlier this month by Gov. Mike Beebe.

The $50 million museum will honor the history of the U.S. Marshals Service. Groundbreaking is tentatively set for September 24, 2014.

Museum President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Dunn says the state funding will likely be used to help office operations and support fundraising efforts. Dunn tells the Southwest Times Record the museum has raised about $11.5 million so far. It expects to bring in about $5 million when the U.S. Mint issues a commemorative coin in 2015 honoring the Marshals Service.

Drive Traffic to Your Business with Radio

Again this year, tourism industry members can take advantage of the Summer Value advertising campaign by partnering with Parks and Tourism on radio spots at substantially reduced rates. The promotion, which will start later this month, is designed to feature special industry packages and remind Arkansans and visitors from neighboring markets that The Natural State is close by and a good value.

Similar to last year’s “More Fun Per Gallon Campaign,” potential travelers are encouraged to visit Arkansas.com. This is a great opportunity for the industry to offer new Deals and Coupons on the website.

Adding a package is easy and free. Visit Arkansas.com/industry-insider and look for the Partner Login to enter your deals. For additional information on the radio co-op offer, contact Amy Frazier  at 501-975-7263 or Brandi Childress  at 501-975-7272.
