Ouachita National Forest

Wolf Pen Gap ATV Riding Trail:


Trail Highlights: These 35 miles of loop trails feature high mountain vistas. The trail leads the rider through an array of areas, including scenic Gap Creek and Board Camp Creek. The trail continues through a forest of large pines and hardwoods before passing the unique 2-foot tall oak tree and an abandoned mine shaft. The trail loops are connected to accommodate riders who want to vary the length of their trips.

Trail complex is open year-round except for deer-gun season. This season lasts from mid-November until early December. The beautiful scenery along the Cossatot Scenic and Recreational River make this one of the best ATV trails in Arkansas.

Fourche Mountain Trail

Trail Highlights: The Fourche Mountain Trail, (formerly Mill Creek Equestrian Trail) offers breathtaking views of Fourche Mountain and Buck Knob. Abandoned silver mines, beautiful streams, and several spectacular views of the Ouachita Mountains make this among the best ATV trails found anywhere. While this trail network provides horseback riding opportunities, it also offers day hiking, mountain biking, ORV and motorcycle riding.

Sugar Creek Trail

Trail Highlights: Sugar Creek Multi-Use Trail is a network of looping ATV riding trails that wind over various types of terrain and through a variety of tree types. Rides range from moderately easy to more difficult. Connecting loops offer users an opportunity to explore exciting outdoor opportunities.

Brock Creek Trails

Trail Highlights: This Arkansas ATV trail is a multi-use trail system that consists of two major loops and many interconnecting loops. The combined loops provide over 42 miles of trails for dirt bikers, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) riders, mountain bikers and horseback riders

Huckleberry Mountain Trail

This trail consists of two main loops that offer 40 miles of the most scenic horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking opportunities in the Ozark National Forest. Deep winding valleys framed by rugged mountain bluffs give way to clear mountain streams.

Mill Creek OHV Trail System

Trail Highlights: This trail is open to OHVs, mountain bikes, horses and hikers. The trail travels through remote areas of the Ozark National Forest and features spectacular mountainous terrain, scenic views, lush upland hardwood forests, unique rock outcroppings, and clear mountain streams. The trail is 27 miles of main trail marked in blue and 15 miles of interior loops and shortcuts trails.

Moccasin Gap Trails

Trail Highlights: Rated one of the best horse trails in the state. The trail is a popular site for competitive rides. Situated in the heart of the forest, this trail consists of four loop trails, each converging into the other. The surrounding forest is a mix of hardwoods and pine with numerous streams and small waterfalls. Although this area is primarily developed as a horse trail, it is actually a multiple-use trail open to Off-Highway Vehicles, mountain bikes, hikers, and high-clearance vehicles. There are camping spurs (17), vault toilets, and a municipal water supply.

Off-Road Vehicle Park for 4WD vehicles, ATVs, dirt bikes and mountain bikes. The Park includes the majority of the original trail system, and new ATV Riding trails and obstacles with varying degrees of difficulty are continuously being built on various terrain -- hill climbs (both "finesse" and "horsepower required" types), mud pits, rock gardens, water crossings, you name it. Byrd's hosts one of the most challenging four-wheel-drive obstacle courses in the nation. Come test your rock crawling skills at the rock garden. The course is host to one of the competitions in the nationally known Ramsey "Top Truck Champion Series," and the annual Rockcrawlers 4x4 Club's "Rocktoberfest" event.

The Ridgeline Trails in Vandervoort provide visitors a chance to enjoy over 15 miles of private forested trails. Located around 4 miles from the Cossatot River and surrounded on all sides by the Ouachita National Forest, Ridgeline encompasses a system of trails (many on steep terrain) that meander up, down, and around deeply forested hills ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and small off-road vehicles like ATVs and dirt bikes. The destination is also a good target for canoeists and kayakers due to the proximity of the Cossatot. Three sites are available for guests to park motor homes or travel trailers at. The sites are less than 2 miles from Hwy 246 on National Forest Road 176. The focus of the trails is on family and friends, a place where they can share their hiking, biking, or ATV experience with no stranger or unknown person interrupting their time together in the woods or on the trails. www.ridgeline-trails.com/
