Buffalo National River 40th Anniversary

In 1972 an unsurpassed area of beauty in The Natural State became a part of history when it was designated as the first national river. Of course, we're referring to the breathtaking Buffalo River in Arkansas, which flows for 135 miles through the Arkansas Ozarks. We celebrated the 40th anniversary of this natural wonder in 2012. On this web page, you'll find information on the river, outfitters for canoeing, kayaking and rafting for anyone who wants to float the Buffalo River, along with lodging and dining opportunities along the way. The map below highlights the landing areas up and down the Buffalo River in Arkansas–perfect if you’re planning a Buffalo River canoeing or kayaking trip. Celebrate by planning a trip to float the Buffalo River, or just visit to admire its beauty from the shore.
