Lake Ouachita Area

Located on the Ouachita River in the Ouachita Mountains of west central Arkansas, the lake is surrounded by Ouachita National Forest and private timberlands. Unsurpassed scenic beauty, excellent fishing, water sports of all kinds and a prolific area for rockhounds are just a few of the natural attractions of this area. Most camping areas are just a few miles from all the tourist attractions of Hot Springs National Park.

Big Fir (E-3)

Campsites: 17 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 4.7 miles northeast of Mount Ida on Hwy. 27, 6 miles east on Hwy. 188, then 4 miles southeast on Housely Point Road.

Facilities: Vaulted toilets, boat ramp. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov.-Feb. 28; pit toilet will stay open. (Open year-round)

Brady Mountain (E-4)

Campsites: 57 RV/Tent with E; 17 Tent

Location: 13 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270, then 6.1 miles north on Brady Mtn. Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, hot showers, boat ramp, dump station, nature trail, restaurant, marina, playground, scenic overlook, scuba shop, pavilion, lodge, day-use swimming beach, horseback riding, miniature golf, cabins, boat rental, amphitheater, pay phones, fish cleaning station. (Closed Nov. 1-Feb. 28 -- boat ramp will remain open.) User's fee charged.

Buckville (E-3)

Campsites: 5 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 18 miles west of Blue Springs on Hwy. 298, then 7 miles south on Buckville Road.

Facilities: Vault toilets, boat ramp, beach. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov. 1-Feb. 28; compost toilet will remain open. (Open year-round)

Crystal Springs (E-3)

Campsites: 63 RV/Tent with W/E; 11 Tent

Location: 16.8 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270, then 1.5 miles north on Crystal Springs Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, hot showers, boat ramp, dump station, picnic area, 2 pavilions, day use swimming beach with change house and playground, restaurant, marina, cottages, scuba shop, boat rental, amphitheater, fish cleaning station, hiking trail. (Open year-round) User’s fee charged.

Denby Point (Ouachita Shores) (E-3)

Campsites: 58 RV/Tent with E; 9 Tent

Location: 9.5 miles east of Mt. Ida on U.S. 270, then .3 mile north on Denby Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, hot showers, dump station, 4 picnic sites, playground, amphitheater, nature trails, marina, 2 group camping areas (6-site and 7-site reservations accepted), swimming beach, boat rental, lodge, fish cleaning station, boat ramp. (Closed Nov. 1-Feb. 28) User's fee charged.

Iron's Fork (E-3)

Campsites: 5 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 8 miles east of Story on Hwy. 298, then 1.2 miles south on access road.

Facilities: Vault toilet, boat ramp. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov. 1-Feb.28; pit toilet will stay open. (Open year-round)

Joplin (Mountain Harbor) (E-3)

Campsites: 62 RV/Tent with E; 2 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 11 miles east of Mt. Ida on U.S. 270, then 2 miles north on Mtn. Harbor Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, hot showers, boat ramps, dump station, picnic sites, beach, restaurant, marina, condos, cabins, scuba shop, scenic overlook, horseback riding, boat rental, convention facilities, lodge, fish cleaning station. (Closed Nov. 1-Feb. 28 -- boat ramp will remain open.) User's fee charged.
NOTE: Campsites not recommended for large RVs, large trailers or units with "slide outs."

Lena Landing (North Shores Resort) (E-4)

Campsites: 10 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 12 miles west of Blue Springs on Hwy. 298, one mile south on Navy Landing Road

Facilities: Flush toilets, boat ramp, trailer dump station, restaurant, marina, convenience store, scuba shop. Concession: (501) 984-5420. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov. 1-Feb. 28. (Open year-round) User's fee charged.

Little Fir (E-3)

Campsites: 29 RV/Tent with W/E

Location: 4.7 miles northeast of Mt. Ida on Hwy. 27, then 8 miles east on Hwy. 188.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, boat ramp, trailer dump station, marina, fish cleaning station. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov. 1-Feb. 28. (Open year-round) User's fee charged.

Spillway (E-4)

Campsites: Group Camping (Tent only - reservations accepted)

Location: 3.5 miles from Blakely Mtn. Dam on Blakely Dam Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, boat ramp, marina, swim beach, pavilion, picnic sites, cabins, scuba shop, boat rental, fish cleaning station. (Open year-round) User's fee charged. Day-use area closed from Nov. 1-Feb. 28. Boat ramp will remain open.
NOTE: Alcohol prohibited in day use/group camp areas.

Stephens Park (E-4)

Campsites: 9 RV/Tent with E

Location: At Blakely Mountain Dam, 1 mile west of Mtn. Pine on Blakely Dam Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, pavilion, 8 picnic sites, playground. (Open year-round) User's fee charged.

Tompkins Bend (Shangri-La) (E-3)

Campsites: 48 RV/Tent with E; 15 RV/Tent with W/E; 2 Tent with W; 12 Tent

Location: 10.7 miles east of Mt. Ida on U.S. 270, then 2.1 miles north on Shangri-La Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, hot showers, boat ramp, dump station, amphitheater, restaurant, marina, cabins, fish cleaning station. (Closed from Nov. 1-Feb. 28 -- boat ramp will be open.) User’s fee charged.

Twin Creek (E-3)

Campsites: 15 RV/Tent with no hookups

Location: 8.8 miles east of Mt. Ida on U.S. 270, then 1 mile north on Twin Creek Road.

Facilities: Flush toilets, water, boat ramp, swimming beach. Camping by permit, but no trash collection and no clean-up services Nov. 1-Feb. 28. (Open year-round) User's fee charged.
