Crystal Springs Recreation Area & Campground (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    63 RV/Tent with W/E; 11 Tent Only with no hookups
  • Location:

    16.8 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270, then 1.5 miles north on Crystal Springs Road.
  • Attractions:

    Crystal Springs Day Use Area with picnic area, playground, pavilions, amphitheatre; Crystal Springs Resort with full service marina, boat rental, restaurant nearby.
  • Facilities:

    Accessible flush toilets, drinking water, showers, boat ramp, dump station, swim beach, fish cleaning station, accessible playground. Pets must be leashed at all times.

Albert Pike Day Use Recreation Area (F-2)

  • Location:

    5 miles southwest of Glenwood on U.S. 70, then west 13 miles on Hwy. 84 to Langley, then right on Hwy. 369 for 6.1 miles.

Bard Springs Recreation Area & Campground (F-2)

  • Campsites:

    Four campsites in low-lying area closed for overnight use, open for day use only.
  • Location:

    19 miles west of Norman on Hwy. 8 to Big Fork, then 10 miles south on gravel Forest Road 38, then east one mile on gravel Forest Road 106. (Caddo Ranger District, Glenwood, AR 71943. PHONE: (870) 356-4186)
  • Attractions:

    Small campground with Adirondike-type shelters in a remote mountain setting; small swimming area, hiking trails, fishing
  • Facilities:

    Picnic tables, vault toilets; five Adirondack sleeping shelters

Big Brushy Recreation Area & Campground (E-2)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area Only
  • Location:

    Six miles northwest of Pencil Bluff on U.S. 270.
  • Attractions:

    Hiking, biking and fishing.
  • Facilities:

    Accessible picnic shelter, playground, vault toilet, fishing, loop trail, access to Ouachita National Recreation Trail.

    Handicap Accessible

Camp Clearfork Recreation Area (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    Group Use Area, up to 76 people
  • Location:

    20 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270. (Womble Ranger District, Mount Ida, AR 71957. PHONE: 870-867-2101
  • Attractions:

    Swimming, fishing, hiking, canoeing and field sports.
  • Facilities:

    Four cabins, six bunkhouses; central bathhouse; ball field.

Crystal Recreation Area & Campground (F-3)

  • Campsites:

    9 Tent with no hookups
  • Location:

    1 mile north of Norman on Hwy. 27, then turn east for 3 miles on gravel Forest Road 177.
  • Attractions:

    Swimming, hiking trail, scenic drives.
  • Facilities:

    Vault toilets, picnic shelter. Pets must be leashed at all times.

South Fourche Recreation Area & Campground (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    6 RV sites with no hookups
  • Location:

    One mile south of Hollis on Ark. Scenic 7 Byway.
  • Attractions:

    Hiking; provides floating access to the South Fourche River
  • Facilities:

    Picnic sites, drinking water, vault toilets
  • Accessible?:

    Handicap Accessible

Shirley Creek Float Camp (E-2)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Only
  • Location:

    Exit U.S. 270 at Pencil Bluff to Ark. 88, west 1 mile past the Oden Ranger Station, turn left on County Road 7991 for 1/2 mile.
  • Attractions:

    Float fishing on the Ouachita River
  • Facilities:

    Picnicking, float fishing, vault toilet, canoeing, hiking.

Charlton Recreation Area & Campground (F-3)

  • Campsites:

    Day use area and Loop A tent sites open. Loops B and C open for RV/Tent Camping
  • Location:

    20 miles west of Hot Springs on U.S. 270
  • Attractions:

    Located near Lake Ouachita; swimming, mountain streams, tree identification interpretive trail; hiking trail to Lake Ouachita.
  • Facilities:

    Showers, water, picnic sites, dump station, group picnic shelter, playground, central flush toilets. Pets must be leashed at all times.
  • Pets Accepted:

    Yes

Dragover Float Campground (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area Only
  • Location:

    From Pencil Bluff, AR take Arkansas Hwy. 88 east for 7 miles; turn south on County Road 97 for 1 mile.
  • Attractions:

    Float fishing on Ouachita River, swimming, hiking.
  • Facilities:

    Picnic sites, vault toilets, canoe access

Fulton Branch Float Camp (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area Only
  • Location:

    1 mile northeast of Mount Ida on Hwy. 27, then north at sign for 6 miles on gravel road. Watch for signs.
  • Attractions:

    Float fishing on Ouachita River, swimming, hiking. Womble Trail connects to Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
  • Facilities:

    Picnic sites, canoe access, toilets. Pets must be leashed at all times.
  • Pets Accepted:

    Yes

Rocky Shoals Float Camp (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area Only
  • Location:

    Take U.S. 270 northwest from Mount Ida for 6 miles; turn right (north) just before crossing the Ouachita River Bridge (east side of river).
  • Attractions:

    Base camp for float fishing on Ouachita River, swimming, hiking. Womble Trail connects to Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
  • Facilities:

    Vault toilets, picnic sites, canoe access. (Open year-round). Pets must be leased at all times.
  • Pets Accepted:

    Yes

Iron Springs Day Use Recreation Area (E-4)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area
  • Location:

    On Ark. Scenic 7 Byway, 4.5 miles north of Jessieville
  • Attractions:

    Wooded roadside setting on stream near historic springs.
  • Facilities:

    Day use area, picnicking, three shelters, vault toilet, accessible walkway to springs, hiking in area.
  • Accessible?:

    Handicap Accessible

Jack Creek Recreation Area & Campground (D-2)

  • Campsites:

    5 Tent with no hookups
  • Location:

    2 miles south of Booneville on Hwy. 23, then east for 1 mile on Hwy. 116, then south 7 miles on paved County/Forest Road 19, then east 1 mile on paved Forest Road 141.
  • Attractions:

    Natural pool in Sugar Creek, scenic overlooks, rugged rock bluffs.
  • Facilities:

    picnicking, swimming, horseshoe pit, accessible vault toilet, picnic shelter, fishing, 1/2 mile scenic loop trail, 4 mile trail connects to Dry Creek Wilderness, 3-1/2 mile trail connects to Knoppers Ford.

Knoppers Ford Recreation Area & Campground (D-2)

  • Campsites:

    6 sites in low-lying areas closed for overnight use, day use only
  • Location:

    2 miles south of Booneville on Hwy. 23, then east 1 mile on Hwy. 116, then south at sign for 7 miles on paved County Road 19, then 2 miles south on gravel Forest Road 19.
  • Attractions:

    Natural pools in Sugar Creek
  • Facilities:

    Picnicking, swimming, horseshoe pit, vault toilet, fishing, 3-1/2 mile trail connects to Jack Creek. Equestrian use from October 1-May 1.

Lake Sylvia Recreation Area & Campground (E-4)

  • Campsites:

    19 RV/Tent with E; 8 Tent with no hookups; Two Group Camping Areas (Loop A, sites 12-17 are closed to overnight use; open for day use only)
  • Location:

    Take Arkansas Hwy. 9 south from Perryville, AR for 9 miles; turn right (southwest) at sign on Arkansas Hwy. 324 for 4 miles.
  • Attractions:

    18-acre lake, swimming beach, picnic sites, fishing, hiking. Wildlife interpretive trail, tree identification interpretive trail for the physically challenged, amphitheater with outdoor theater programs in season.
  • Facilities:

    Restrooms, dump station, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, water fountains and hydrants

Little Pines Recreation Area & Campground (E-2)

  • Campsites:

    9 RV/Tent with W/E
  • Location:

    Take Ark. 248 west from Waldron for 11-1/2 miles.
  • Attractions:

    1000-acre Lake Hinkle, swim beach, hiking.
  • Facilities:

    Can accommodate long trailers; bathhouse, picnic units and shelter, fish cleaning station, accessible fishing pier, dump station, boat dock for campers

River Bluff Float Camp (E-3)

  • Campsites:

    Day Use Area Only
  • Location:

    1 mile northeast of Mount Ida on Hwy. 27, then north at sign for 5 miles on gravel road. Watch for signs.
  • Attractions:

    Float fishing on Ouachita River, swimming, hiking. Womble Trail connects to Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
  • Facilities:

    Vault toilets, picnic sites, canoe access. Pets must be leashed at all times.
  • Pets Accepted:

    Yes

Shady Lake Recreation Area & Campground (F-2)

  • Campsites:

    44 RV/Tent with no hookups; 20 with W/E; 1 RV with W/E/S (13 sites in low-lying areas are closed for overnight use with day use only)
  • Location:

    5 miles southwest of Glenwood on U.S. 70; west 23 miles on Hwy. 84 to Athens, then 2 miles west on Hwy. 246. Then north at sign for 3 miles on Forest Road 38. (Mena Ranger District, Mena, AR 71953. PHONE: 479-394-2382
  • Attractions:

    25-acre lake, swimming beach with diving platform, fishing, playground, and hiking. Shady Lake Trail for hiking and mountain biking.
  • Facilities:

    Drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, trailer dump station, day use picnic area, boat dock.
