Park/Rec Area: Hurricane Creek Wilderness

Location: At the junction of Hwys. 7, 16 and 123 (Pelsor), go west on Hwy. 123 for approximately 10 1/2 miles to the Big Piney Bridge. The wilderness area is to the north/northeast. The northeast side may be approached via Forest Road 1207 off Hwy. 7, then to Forest Road 1209 which runs along a good portion of the wilderness.
Description: 15,100 acres featuring rushing mountain streams, scenic blufflines and rock formations including a natural bridge. Approximately 13 miles of the Ozark Highlands National Recreation Trail passes through the Hurricane Creek Wilderness. This trail also includes a 2-mile ‘high water bypass’ spur which makes it possible to make a short loop hike. The Wilderness is also accessible via a loop hike. The wilderness is also accessible via a number of old settlement roads.
