Based loosely on true-live exploits of the much celebrated Sweet Sweet Connie, the movie stared Connie Hamzy as herself and features the rock group Mighty Quick who also provided the high energy sound track. This was Little Rock native John Braden’s third film as a producer, first as a director.
Braden was a writer, producer, and director of motion pictures and television programs, as well as a public advocate against drugs in the movie industry. He was best-known best for his work on shows such as Magnum, P.I., The A-Team, Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard, and The Fall Guy. He often worked with fellow Arkansan, producer Harry Thomason.
The old Asher Drive-In in Little Rock was site of the world premiere of Sweet Sweet Connie, which starred Connie Hamzy, the groupie immortalized in the Grand Funk Railroad recording, An American Band.
