Designing Women (1986–1993)

Visitors who go to Atlanta trying to find the Sugarbaker business are surprised to learn the vintage building is not in Atlanta but Little Rock. Arkansas native Harry Thomason, along with his wife Linda Bloodworth-Thomason who was the show's creator, continued to showcase his home state by using the exterior of the historic Villa Marre home (pictured right) in downtown Little Rock during the television show’s seven year run.

While the show was on the air, the Villa Marre served as headquarters for the Quapaw Quarter Historic Association. Located on 1321 South Scott in Little Rock, it is now a private residence.  Numerous references to The Natural State were often included in the scripts.  The Arkansas Governor's Mansion in the Quapaw Quarter Historic District served as the home for Suzanne Sugarbaker.
