What to know

The Superior was built in 1916, when Hot Springs, Arkansas, was a bustling city of men in top hats and women with parasols, waiting for their turn to bathe in thermal spring water. The seemingly magical hot water was piped out of the east at 144 degrees into the row of bathhouses down Central Avenue. Superior Bathhouse, where you now sit, was “People’s Bathhouse” and “Superior” was a paradox since it was the smallest on the row. The patrons enjoyed their time in Superior among the simplest of decor and the basics of relaxation, all centered around the hot water.

In 2011, the hot springs once again became the catalyst of a new vision by Rose Schweikhart: partnering with Mother Nature, using the thermal power of the hot springs to brew beer. Rose was inspired to follow her dream after traveling throughout Europe, where the pubs are often the heart of the community. The Superior Bathhouse Brewery was born! Rose’s bold vision intertwines the industrial history of the bathhouse with newfound purpose of relaxation for all. Superior is the only brewery located within a National Park and the only brewery in the world to utilize the thermal spring water to create their now famous craft beers. You’re sure to share Rose’s excitement as you experience the thermal waters in a delicious new way.
