40th anniversary of the Center for Art & Education


The Center for Art & Education in Van Buren celebrates its 40th anniversary this year with a retrospective exhibition by Founding Member Ethel Ashley.

The exhibit, “A Gathering of Forty Years: Art, Artist and Memories,” runs March 5-26. As part of the anniversary celebration, two events are featured. “The Making of an Art Center” will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 4. This open house event includes tours of the art center, where you can learn about the history as well as the services offered today. On March 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., join the center as it honor’s Ethel Ashley and the founding members in a memorial event and a celebration of 40 years of community service through art and art education.

The cost is $65 for snacks and beverages on a chartered bus with admission to all exhibitions at the museum except the Frank Lloyd Wright house. Lunch is on your own at the museum’s restaurant, Eleven.

The class fee is $200 with a $100 deposit due at registration. Space is limited, so sign up early to reserve your spot for this fun and spontaneous style of journaling.
