AGFC trout fishing seminars scheduled in Heber Springs

In Arkansas, trout fishing for rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout is a favorite outdoor activity on the White River in the tailwaters of the Norfork, Bull Shoals, Beaver, Ouachita, and Greers Ferry dams. If you’d like to take part in the fun but are new to fishing, one of the best ways to get information about Arkansas fishing is through Arkansas Game and Fish Commission workshops.
AGFC has three free fishing seminars scheduled at the William Carl Garner Visitor Center in Heber Springs – a beginning trout course at 10 a.m. on April 30, a beginning fly-fishing course at 10 a.m. on May 28, and an intermediate trout course at 10 a.m. on June 18.
Each course is one to two hours in a classroom setting. Beginning fly fishing will also include casting instruction. The instructor will be Bo Davidson with the AGFC’s Aquatic Resources Education Program. Because the courses are designed to build upon each other, it is suggested taking the beginner class before trying to take one of the other classes.
The William Carl Garner Visitor Center is located at 700 Heber Springs Road North in Heber Springs. Call 501-362-9067 to register and learn how to chase trout in Arkansas’s excellent tailwaters.
