Backyard Billionaire Tour
Explore the history of Sam Walton, founder of Walmart, and his hometown of Bentonville.
Day 1
2:30-3:45 pm: Walton 5 & 10/Walmart Visitor’s Center
Located in Sam Walton’s original Bentonville variety store, the center traces the original and growth of Walmart Stores, Inc. In addition to the museum, the Downtown Bentonville area has several shops that offer unique souvenirs.
4:00-5:30 pm: Museum of Native American History
Walk through pre-historic time in Bentonville’s newest attraction. Delve into the lives and daily activities of ancient American’s-forefathers to the American Indians-through a self-guided audio wand tour.
6:00 pm: Drop off bags at a Bentonville hotel
6:30-7:30 pm: Dinner at Fred’s Hickory Inn
8:00 pm: Return to hotel
Day 2
8:00 am: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel
9:00-11:00 am: Backyard Billionaires Tour
Enjoy driving by the area 500 fortune companies who helped form the success of the area. There is history with how so many contributed to the success of Northwest Arkansas. You can request a guide on the bus for this event from Visit Bentonville.
11:30 am-12:30 pm: Lunch on Bentonville Square
The square has over 10 restaurants to choose from including anywhere from seafood to farm fresh to table menus to Italian to sandwiches – something for everyone! Then enjoy some old fashioned ice cream from The Spark.
1:00-4:30 pm: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
Enjoy yourself at one of the most beautiful museums in the country. See for yourself all the American masters of art ranging from Asher Durand and Rockwell to Benton and Warhol. After the tour, enjoy a little free time to explore the museum further or venture out around the many acres of walking trails.
5:00-6:00 pm: Dinner at Whole Hog in Bentonville
6:30-8:30 pm: Crystal Bridges
Return to walk and enjoy art and also the outside areas of the museum are beautiful to walk around.
