DeGray Lake Sunset Trail in Arkadelphia

The dedication of the DeGray Lake Sunset Trail in Arkadelphia took place yesterday ( April 2). The 1-mile ADA-accessible trail is paved and has views of Lower DeGray Lake. Right next to the trail is the DeGray Lower Lake Disc Golf Course.
According to a news release sent by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) about the trail, Lower DeGray Lake is smaller and quieter than the upper DeGray Lake many are familiar with.

“The lower lake offers some tremendous wildlife viewing opportunities – waterfowl, eagles, and aquatic mammals, to name a few,” said Kirsten Bartlow, watchable wildlife coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission in the news release. “Bring your binoculars along as you walk the trail or slip a kayak into the water and explore the edges of the lake.”
The trail is a project of the non-profit Keeping DeGray Lake Beautiful. Russ Johnson, president of Keeping DeGray Lake Beautiful, spoke at the trail dedication and said the trail came to fruition thanks to volunteer efforts and many local partnerships. Partners on the project included the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Clark County, and a grant from the AGFC Wildlife Observation Trails Pilot Program.
The trail is located around two miles west of Exit 78/Caddo Valley on I-30. For more information contact Keeping DeGray Lake Beautiful at 501-256-4262.
