The lineup for this year’s Summer Concert Series, three free outdoor concerts held in downtown El Dorado, has been released.

The concerts are set to take place after the Showdown at Sunset performances on the last Saturday of June, July and August. The event recreates the 1902 shootout that led to a bitter feud between the Tucker and Parnell families. The reenactment of the Tucker-Parnell feud will be performed on the steps of the Union County Courthouse beginning at 6 p.m.

This year, the concerts take place at a new location on a stage at the intersection of Cedar and Jefferson Streets, with the Murphy Arts District serving as a backdrop. The opening acts begin at 7 p.m. and headliners take the stage at 8 p.m.

As for details, on June 24, Sun Records star and El Dorado native Jason D. Williams will take the stage. He plays  rock and roll on the piano and has been compared to performers like Jerry Lee Lewis. The Side Street Steppers and The Burners will be the opening acts.

On July 22, Grammy-nominated country music performer Lee Roy Parnell will showcase his Texas roots music, which has influences from blues, gospel, and rock.  Black Strap and The Burners will both open for the show.

Grammy-nominated country performer David Lee Murphy will be the final concert of the series on August 26. For more information, check out mainstreeteldorado.org. Below is a video of Jason D. Williams in action.
