Eureka Springs, EasterBelles Hats & Easter Parade

03/21/2013

One of my favorite movies is Easter Parade with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. I love those old movies with their beautiful costuming and that classic movie star look. I also love hats – all types.

So there’s no surprise that I love the idea that the Eureka Springs EasterBelles are keeping the tradition of Easter bonnets alive while also raising money for a great cause. You can join in on the fun with your vote while enjoying a visit to this Victorian town.

The EasterBelles will gather at Caribé Cantina Y Restaurant from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 to autograph their Easter Parade poster and raise money to supply chemotherapy patients soft, cotton “bonnets” of their own.

Each EasterBelle will have an 8×10 photograph that appeared on their poster next to an Easter basket. You can vote for your favorite poster of an EasterBelle and her fashionable hat by placing money in the basket next to the photo. The money will supply area clinics, hospitals and cancer non-profit organizations with soft cotton hats that keep chemotherapy patients’ heads warm during their treatment.

The EasterBelles continue the tradition of Easter Parades started in the 1800s, honoring women, Springtime, fashion and culture of the times. The EasterBelles will be stepping out again in style Easter Sunday, March 3 with a noon parade starting at the Gavioli Chapel and ending at the Crescent Hotel.  Membership of the EasterBelles, and parade participation, is with a donation to their selected charitable effort for that year.
