Fort Smith True Grit Ride

Got grit? Prove it Saturday, June 18 during the 5th annual True Grit Ride 100 or on Sunday, June 19 at the True Grit Mountain Bike Ride in Fort Smith.

Presented by Phat Tire, the road rides include 10-, 28-, 42-, 66-, and 100-mile courses. The True Grit Mountain Bike Ride will be a 15-mile guided tour with a course for riders of any skill level. New this year is the True Grit 5K Walk/Run.

Previously, the start and finish lines were at Ben Geren Park, but this year will be starting on Terry Street in Chaffee Crossing for the road ride and 5K. The road ride begin at 7 a.m. and all riders need to be lined up by 6:50 a.m. The course closes at 3 p.m. The mountain bike ride takes place the next day at the same time but at Ben Geren Park.  The entry fees are $50 for the road ride, $45 for the mountain bike ride, and $35 for the 5K. Early registration is encouraged to insure you receive the correct T-shirt size.

The popular barbecue dinner will be served at the finish line for all participants and volunteers. A mixer, hosted by Phat Tire Bike Shop at 1700 Rogers Ave., will take place at 6 p.m. for all participants, and includes live music, refreshments, and door prizes.

The True Grit Ride 100 is the biggest fundraiser for the Community Services Clearinghouse. Over the last four years, it has raised more than $165,000 for the Clearinghouse programs. Sponsored by the Community Services Clearinghouse Guild, the Ride raises funds for the Meals for Kids/Backpack Program and the emergency food pantry.
