Little Rock Marathon Weekend!

This Sunday, March 1, Arkansas’s capital city will be the scene of the Little Rock Marathon. The marathon is a big draw for tourism in the state and is well known in the running world for giving the world’s largest marathon finisher’s medal. There are 3,000 marathoners (which is the field size limit) signed on to take on the  marathon route, which is a USATF ( USA Track & Field) certified course and a Boston Marathon qualifier, on Sunday.

Along with the marathon, there will also be a half marathon and 10K that take place on Sunday and a 5K and kids’ marathon that take place on Saturday (February 28). The start line for all races is at the intersection of Capitol Avenue & Scott Street and the finish line for all races is on President Clinton Avenue (west of Sherman Street).

There were over 13,000 participants (combined for all the different races) and more than 20,000 spectators along the course in 2013. Walkers are welcome in all race weekend events and the event is spectator friendly too.  Of note, the Little Rock Marathon Health & Fitness Expo takes place this Friday (February 27)  and Saturday (February 28) at the Statehouse Convention Center.
