Little Rock’s first food truck dining hall to open January 19

The food-truck dining experience has been reinvented by a couple of Little Rock entrepreneurs. A cross between the shopping mall food court of yore and a mini food truck festival, the Food Struck Stop @ Station 801 is scheduled to open Tuesday, January 19, 2016. The Food Truck Stop, located in downtown Little Rock at the corner of 8th and Chester streets, fuses the variety and convenience of food-truck eating with the comfort of a dine-in restaurant by providing an indoor seating area complete with televisions, wi-fi and restrooms, all adjacent to a parking lot that will host a rotating selection of 6-8 food trucks. The Stop will be open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Diners can, of course, also take their food-truck purchases to go.)
“We think this space will be something that will bring people together in the city,” said Scott Hamilton, a co-owner of the garage-turned-dining-hall, who worked with the Downtown Little Rock Partnership to connect with food trucks. The Downtown Partnership is the organizer of the Main Street Food Truck Festival, which last year was named a top-ten food truck festival in the US by Vacationidea.com.
Trucks on offer during opening week will include Hot Rod Wieners, Rick’s Beignets, Stevie’s Fish and Chicken, Jackie’s Mobile Cafe, Red River BBQ and Fish, Southern Salt (pictured above) and Loblolly Creamery. Brown Sugar Bakeshop, formerly in the Little Rock River Market district, will also have an express location inside the dining hall.
