Nano Days at Mid-America Science Museum

Come explore the miniscule world of atoms, molecules, and nanoscale forces during Nano Days April 6 at Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs.

Discover the range of special and unexpected properties found at the nanoscale, examine tools used by nanoscientists, experience nano materials with spectacular promise, and have discussions about technology and society. Join us in a nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering. It’s the biggest event for the smallest science. The event lasts from 11-3 p.m. that day and the museum will have several activity stations set up throughout the museum for all visitors to explore. It’s free with paid admission to the museum.

While at the event, you can also check out the other exhibits there. The museum has over 100 hands-on exhibits and new ones are constantly added to keep the experience new. As to the permanent exhibits, one of my favorites is “Underground Arkansas”, a gigantic indoor cave filled with tunnels, swinging bridges, and slides.  The Tesla Demonstration is also popular. According to Guinness World Records the museum has the world’s most powerful Tesla Coil.  During the demonstration, viewers watch “caged lightning” and 1.5 million volts of electricity spark from it. Yowza!  More info on the event can be found at  and more information on the museum, which is at 500 Mid America Blvd.  can be found by calling 501-767-3461 or at
