Painted Portraits Exhibit at South Arkansas Arts Center
An exhibit called “Portraits: A Painted History of El Dorado, 1852-2016” is currently on display in the Price and Merkle Galleries of the South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado. The exhibit will be there through January 30 and includes 74 portraits that span 160 years. The portraits represent a large scale of history, from those that impacted the earliest beginnings of El Dorado to those individuals that continue to do so today. Many of the portraits are from private collections so have never been seen in the same space before.
“This exhibit is both artistically and historically important, as we celebrate many of the people who have shaped our community, as well as the artists that created the portraits,” said Jack Wilson, business manager of the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society, via a news release. SAAC is located at 110 East Fifth Street, El Dorado, Arkansas.
