Sleigh Bells Ring Throughout Central Arkansas this December

Hey kids! Like any journalist I have my sources, and a little elf at the North Pole sent me Santa’s schedule for December. Keep your eyes peeled for the big guy at these locations:

Get your jingle on at one of the area’s festive events! If lights are your family’s thing, the Enchanted Forest Trail of Lights takes place in Sherwood Nov. 30–Dec. 30 and Maumelle’s Festival of Trees is Dec. 5. Indulge in the season’s culinary offerings at the Say It Ain’t Says Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest on Dec. 6 in Little Rock.

Performances that will captivate young audiences abound during the holiday season. The Arkansas Arts Center’s Children’s Theater is showing The Gingerbread Man’s Excellent Christmas Adventure Dec. 4–20. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree is a not-miss production by the Diamond Edge Figure Skating Club at the Arkansas Skatium Dec. 5-6. The Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock decks the halls with the Gaither Christmas Homecoming on Dec. 12 and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra performance: “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” on Dec. 17. Holiday Pops with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, a central Arkansas holiday favorite, will take place Dec. 18-20 at the Connor Performing Arts Center in Little Rock.

There are activities for all of our kids – including our furry ones. Get your pet’s photo taken with Santa in North Little Rock on Dec. 5 and in Maumelle on Dec. 12, both hosted by Paws & Claws and benefitting the North Little Rock Animal Shelter’s spay/neuter program. And for those who need a break from the holiday madness, try an outdoor adventure park, like Timberlane Adventure Sports & Paintball in Bauxite, Carter Off-Road Park in Bryant, Paintball Arkansas in Conway or Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Maumelle.
