Spring at Mid-America Science Museum
Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs is the state’s oldest and largest science center. There are more than 100 exhibits and workstations to explore at the museum and also special exhibits and events.
This month, a new exhibit is set to open at the museum on April 15. The exhibit is called Mindbender Mansion, and it will have puzzles and brainteasers for visitors to test their problem solving skills on. There will be 11 brain teasers and three group activities to check out. Also of note is Earth Day on April 22. On this day the museum will have hands-on earth science activities for visitors. Another themed event is Astronomy Day on April 29 and there will be hands-on science learning activities that day. There is also a new constellation show called “Campfire’s Edge” about the earth’s solar system to check out in the Digital Dome Theater on site.
The museum, which opened in 1979, is the state’s only Smithsonian affiliate. Last year the museum landed the Institute for Museum and Library Services National Medal for Community Service. The award stands out as only 10 museums and libraries around the country are awarded it each year. Mid-America Science Museum is located at 500 Mid America Boulevard.
