Telsa Fest at Mid-America Science Museum
The 2nd annual Tesla Fest is taking place July 8 at Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs. The event celebrates the birth of inventor Nikola Tesla, who was an important influence in modern science and technology.
The event will be an entire day devoted to the science of Tesla, who is often regarded as one of the world’s most prolific scientific minds. There will be hands-on science related activities for visitors to take part in and special Tesla shows offered too.
The museum, which is Arkansas’s oldest and largest science center, is home to the Guinness World Record’s most powerful conical Tesla coil. The coil, which was first invented by Tesla in the 1890s, is one of his most famous inventions. Other longtime favorite attractions at the museum include a giant Mastodon Skeleton, kinetic art sculptures (like the Rowland Emett Little Dragon Carpet Sweeper) that date back to the beginnings of the museum and were featured in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and exhibits like the Underground Arkansas cave and Arkansas Underfoot, which gives an inside peek at the biology and geology unique to Arkansas. Overall, there are more than 100 exhibits and workstations to explore at the museum.
Mid-America Science Museum is located at 500 Mid-America Blvd in Hot Springs. Tesla Fest is a general admission event and there are no additional costs to enter the museum.
