Wakarusa: Where Music Meets Mother Nature
Nature and the arts are intermingling big time in northwest Arkansas. Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville is the place where the visual arts and architecture blend with the beauty of the landscape. And Wakarusa, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has become the place where music meets nature.
Wakarusa takes place May 30-June 2 within wonderful scenery. Just watching the sun go down behind the rolling, green forested hillsides as music plays is worth a ticket. Mulberry Mountain, the festival grounds located near Ozark, are situated in an incredible area with open fields as well as tree-shaded areas. It is located on the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, which is Ark. 23 from the south boundary of the Ozark National Forest to its intersection with Ark. 16 at Brashears. The rugged and forested Boston Mountains region of the Ozark Mountains provides the setting for this route, portions of which run through a tunnel of foliage during spring, summer and fall. The byway crosses the Mulberry River and the 165-mile Ozark Highlands Trail.
