Winter Campfire Fun
While we do have some cold wintery days, for the most part, Arkansas is considered to have a mild seasonal climate, meaning there’s still plenty of outdoor fun to be had even when Old Man Winter comes to visit.

One of the best things about winter is enjoying an outdoor fire. The staff at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center in Fort Smith know this too. That’s why they’re offering an evening of winter campfire fun from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12. Staff will share local tales, and play a few campfire games with you. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Admission is free.
The Nature Center, located at 8300 Wells Lake Road, sits on 170 acres of land in Fort Smith that was previously part of Fort Chaffee. The building overlooks Wells Lake, a popular local fishing and picnicking destination. For more information, call 479-452-3993 or visit www.rivervalleynaturecenter.com.
