Crawford County Courthouse
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places; believed to be the oldest active county courthouse west of the Mississippi. Original portion constructed in 1842; has the original Seth Thomas tower clock. A marker on the courthouse lawn commemorates the site's location on the historic Butterfield Stage Route. The Butterfield stage route between Saint Louis and San Francisco passed through the main street of Van Buren crossing the Arkansas River at this point.
