Great Backyard Bird Count Lake Tour
DeGray Lake Resort State Park
What to know
Join a park interpreter for this special birding adventure on DeGray Lake! We will search for wintering bald eagles, ospreys, loons, herons, grebes, ducks, and more. As we search, we will record our findings to submit to the Great Backyard Bird Count. These records will help scientists and researchers learn more about how different bird species are doing, how their populations and ranges are changing, and how to protect them. Bring binoculars if you have some and be sure to dress for the weather. It is normally chillier and windier on the lake than it is on land. We suggest you dress in layers and don’t be afraid to bring too much warm clothing—you can always remove a layer! Reservations can be made beginning noon the day before at the marina, (501) 865-5841. A minimum of six passengers must be registered one hour prior to departure. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, because the boat must depart on time.
