1.8 Million Lights Illuminate Garvan Woodland Gardens for the Holidays


Through Dec. 31 more than
1.8 million holiday lights illuminate Garvan Woodland Gardens  from 5 to 9 p.m.
each evening during Lights on the Landscape in Hot Springs. The event transforms the woodland
landscape into a captivating and charming winter wonderland.
“Our display
features 1.8 million twinkling lights, including tulips that “grow,”
butterflies in flight, and our new 14 foot long animated, interactive train
engine designed by James Scallion, the Gardens’ holiday lights supervisor,”
said Darla Kelsay, Communications Coordinator at the gardens. “The train is
enhanced with sound as if it’s pulling into a station and then gaining
speed as it pulls out. Kids can come aboard the train to ring
the bell. It’s been a great draw. We also have some breathtaking
chandeliers that hang from the trees to light up the trails.” Admission is $6
for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12 years old. Children 5 and under are
