Award winning bluegrass-folk music trio in Mena next weekend

Like bluegrass music? 3 Penny Acre, the award winning bluegrass-influenced
folk-Americana trio, are scheduled to play at the Ouachita Little Theatre (OLT)
in Mena next weekend (March 27-28).

band’s Ozark inspired sound is a musical collaboration between three
up-and-coming songwriters. The band showcases Mena native Bernice Campbell. On double
bass she is joined in the trio by her husband, guitarist Bryan Hembree, and
banjo/mandolin player, Bayard Blaine.  Opening the show is local
guitarist, singer and songwriter Richie Owens.

In 2008
the band won the 2008 Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield, Kansas) New Songs
competition. Their song “Dig A Little Deeper”, from their debut album was
selected from over 680 entries. They also played the famed Good Folk House
(Fayetteville, Arkansas), Little Rock Riverfest, Mulberry Mountain Festival,
and the 61st Ozark Folk Festival. Last year, they were selected as an official
showcase artist at the 2009 Folk Alliance Conference, voted “Best New Band” at
the 2009 Northwest Arkansas Music Awards, and opened for Yonder Mountain
Stringband and Railroad Earth, and toured an 11 state region. More details on the trio can
