Fayetteville’s growing art scene is even better today with the expansion of First Thursday Fayetteville, a cultural arts experience on the downtown square.

First Thursday Fayetteville is a monthly event celebrating original works of art. Traditionally an inside event based out of the ddp gallery and Fayetteville Underground, it will be expanding out on to East Avenue and the Town Center Plaza for the first time today, April 1. No Foolin’! The outdoor art walk will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with live music by local band Guta from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. Mayor Jordan will unveil a 1.3 ton elephant sculpture from South Africa that will be displayed at the Town Center Plaza until May 18.

A wide array of mediums will be on display, including oil paintings, wood sculpture, and photography. Patrons are encouraged to explore the square as many shops and restaurants will be open later and feature special discounts during the event.
