Geocaching Friday: October Geocaching Events

On Fridays, I’ll share some of my favorite geocaching spots and upcoming caching events throughout The Natural State. Even if you’re not a cacher, the Friday blogs will feature towns and attractions throughout the eastern section of Arkansas…perfect for a weekend trip!

It’s Friday!! So let’s talk geocaching!

There are several caching events coming up that I wanted to let you all know about. Wonderview High School in Hattieville (Conway County) is hosting their first GeoEvent this Saturday, Oct. 9. The school is home to a new hiking trail and outdoor classroom, both of which will offer temporary caches, pocket caches and at least one new traditional cache. The event begins at 9 a.m. Lunch will be available.

Jacksonville cachers are hosting a Breakfast Drop-In on Saturday, Oct. 16. Cachers are invited to stop by the James Street Diner at 8 a.m. and have some breakfast and coffee. Events like these are a great way to meet some fellow cachers.

Geocachers Lower Arkansas Division is hosting an Eat and Greet in El Dorado on Thursday, Oct. 21. If you’ve read some of my previous blogs, you know that some of the BEST caching in Arkansas is around El Dorado and Smackover. Absolutely amazing caches…and a LOT of them!

Team Pink is hosting Marksar 1K Celebration in Jonesboro on Oct. 30. The event is being held at Ryan’s at 4 p.m. and is honor of Marksar (a very active cacher in northeast Arkansas) finding 1000 caches. If you’ve never cached in the Jonesboro area, this is your chance! It’s also an opportunity to meet some of the cachers from the region. Congratulations, Marksar!! That’s no small feat!!
