Hot Springs a Haven for Motorcyclists This Month

Zoie Clift

September is shaping up to
be good month for motorcycle enthusiasts. Hot Springs has harnessed three large
and varied events that cater to motorbikes this month. To start with, the
largest annual motorcycle rally in central Arkansas is Sept. 9-12 at the 5th
annual Hot Springs Rally
. The rally is at the Hot Springs Convention Center. On
the agenda are two poker runs, a bike show, field events, bike games, a parade,
vendors, and entertainment. For more information visit or call 501-282-7076.

That same week, the 3rd
annual Antique Motorcycles in the Park
lands on Sept. 11. Check out over 100
antique and vintage pre-1980 motorcycles on display and learn about motorcycle
history. The event, which is free to see,
is presented by the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, Diamond Chapter
of Arkansas. More details are found at or at 501-525-9833.

The following week, you can
check out The Motorcycle Cannonball Run. The ride is scheduled to take a large
group of riders 3,325 miles across America starting at Kitty Hawk, N.C. and
ending (14 days later) in Santa Monica, CA. The ride begins on Sept. 10 and Hot
Springs will host the riders Sept. 16-18. If you are a gear head, one thing to
note is that all the motorcycles taking part will be pre-1916 vintage classic
machines, a requirement of the event. Riders are also scheduled to use
backroads and byways as their main route of travel. The classic motorcycles
will be stored at the Hot Springs Convention Center during the pit stop in
town. For more details visit or call 501-321-2277.

Along with these events,
the city is also home territory to popular routes for riders to check out. A
list of suggested rides can be found here. The cooler temps are a chance to hop
on the bike and enjoy the scenery found across the state. What’s your favorite
spot to ride?
