Jekyll and Hyde Hit Weekend Theater

Zoie Clift

I had the change to catch Jekyll and Hyde at the Weekend
Theater in Little Rock last night. I’m sure most are familiar with the
story-this version transports the tale into a gothic musical set in London in
1865. For those unfamiliar with the small theater, there isn’t a bad seat in
the house. It’s the definition of community theater as the audience is
practically seated on the stage itself-and thereby in the midst of the action.
The show I went to sold out and I got the impression most shows featured
do. One thing to note is that the actors and people who run the show are all
volunteers. So all productions really are a labor of love. Tickets are $18 and
$14 for students and seniors. More showings of Jekyll and Hyde are scheduled
for today (at 2:30), August 21-23 and the 28-30. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on
Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 on Sundays. It’s recommended to call ahead to
reserve tickets and then pay for the tickets when you get there. The reservation
number is 501-374-3761. The theater is located at Seventh and Chester streets,
right across the street from Vino’s. For more details visit
